At 010 Personeel, we pride ourselves on not just being another staffing agency in the Netherlands, but a company that values quality over quantity. To get an inside look at how we find the right people for the right jobs, we sat down with one of our recruiters to hear about their role and what makes our recruitment process stand out.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your role as a recruiter at 010 Personeel. What does a typical day look like for you?

As a recruiter, my day typically starts with a short briefing. This is where I check if there are any urgent requests for more workers or if we have new clients who might need our services. After that, I take time to respond to messages from the previous day, making sure all candidates are informed and properly registered in our system. Once the admin is done, I dive into promoting job postings and getting the word out. This involves a lot of marketing and outreach to make sure the right people know about the opportunities we have available.

What makes 010 Personeel stand out from other staffing agencies in the Netherlands? Why should someone want to work with us?

At 010 Personeel, we focus on quality, not quantity. Rather than trying to fill as many positions as possible, we invest time in getting to know each candidate individually. We want to understand their strengths and what kind of work environment would suit them best. This allows us to place them in roles where they can truly thrive, making them feel like part of our team and not just another number in the system.

What qualities do you look for in candidates when hiring for cleaning positions? Are there any specific skills or attributes that make someone stand out?

Experience is always a plus, of course. Previous cleaning experience is important, but it’s not the only thing we look for. What really matters is a candidate’s work mentality. As a cleaner, you’re not just limited to one room or task. It’s about taking ownership of your area and always being willing to go above and beyond. A great cleaner is someone who understands that the whole location is their responsibility, not just the space they are assigned to.

What is the recruitment process like at 010 Personeel? Can you walk us through what someone can expect when they apply?

The process is pretty straightforward and friendly. Most of the initial contact happens through Messenger or WhatsApp, and then we follow up with a call and interview. If the candidate is a good fit and we have an open position, we make sure to get the contract signed during the same meeting. It’s efficient and fast, so candidates don’t have to wait long to know if they’re moving forward.

What are some common misconceptions people have about working in cleaning jobs, and how do you help potential candidates see the bigger picture?

A lot of people think cleaning jobs are easy and that there’s no room for growth, but that’s far from the truth. While it may seem straightforward, cleaning requires a lot of physical strength and mental focus. It’s not a job for everyone, but for those who are committed, there’s plenty of opportunity. We offer growth potential, with many of our cleaners eventually moving into supervisory roles. So, for those willing to put in the work, there’s a clear path to advancement.

How do you make sure that the candidates you place are a good match for both the job and the team they’ll be working with?

We believe in staying connected with our clients. After placing a candidate, we make sure to follow up regularly and check in on their performance. For example, if it’s a hotel or holiday park, we also monitor customer reviews. This helps us ensure that the candidate is fitting well into the role and maintaining the high standards that our clients expect.

What advice would you give someone looking to apply for a cleaning position through 010 Personeel? How can they make their application stand out?

Be clear and straightforward. If you’re interested in a position, don’t be afraid to reach out and introduce yourself. A face-to-face meeting, even if we don’t have an opening right at that moment, can make a huge difference. If we get to know you personally, we’ll keep you in mind when the right opportunity comes up. It’s all about being a good fit for the role, and meeting us is a great first step.

How do you help candidates feel comfortable during the interview process, especially those who might be nervous or new to the job market?

I try to put candidates at ease by telling them about my own experiences. I’ve been in their shoes before, doing the same jobs myself. I know how it feels to be nervous or unsure. To help ease their nerves, I show them visuals of the places they might work and share feedback from others who’ve worked there. It’s important to let them know they’re not alone and that we’re here to guide them through the process.
